Ok, the actual Pokemon 3d logo isn't bad, but it could be much better (in my opinion)
I'm not a photoshop expert, but I made this logo:

It's my first experience in 3d images

Opinions?
Comentary?
I have a bigger one, but this size is perfect for the forum and the game

if you don't like it, just say it, I won't commit suicide, maybe...

If you think you can do a "Pokemon 3D" logo, please post it in this thread!!

The first thing I thought about this project is that it needs a flashy logo.

Your idea is good, making 'Pokemon' 3D instead of flat works well but your sample looks a bit messy/fuzzy but I like where it has come from.

i don't want to be a spoil sport, but isn't the Pokemon logo a registered trademark? you might be infringing on a few copyright laws and were already tip toeing dangerously close.

in other terms, its like putting the coca-cola logo on a fan made bottle of 4th dimensional coke, but then removing the registered trademark symbol at the bottom.

All the graphics used in this game so far has been ripped from Pokemon games. Is there really that much of a difference?

being both a texture artist and logo designer, i can tell you that with out a Creative Commons license, all of it can be considered a use of copyrighted material without permission of use. In the case of a logo adjusting it and using it to your own means can be construed as dilution or even defamation of a trade mark as it identifies Nintendos product. There are many angles they could take to try and stop this. most are nasty.

but i don't know, i mean I've never dealt with a fan game or anything similar. I don't know how people avoid risks, but i certainly don't want anyone to be punished for wanting to make something amazingly cool. and i don't know what nintendos thoughts are on the whole thing anyway, they might be cool guys and let it slide. who knows.

I'm just gonna go back to my guitar now :/

Also, it is just a flashier version of the current logo

One of ninty's lawyers could shut this down at any moment, the logo is the least of his problems. Fan games rely entirely on good will from companies, from what I can tell, nintendo don't seem to care about other pokemon clones/ports.

What would really bring horrible legal wrath upon him would be selling it.

Also the worst that can happen is they threaten legal action, at that point you can just walk away. If you make money off it then you're probably boned, but fan games have never suffered any fate worse than shutdown, once the project is discontinued/changed to not infringe on copyright (bid for power, a quake 3 mod, started out as a dbz mod but had to rename the characters and attacks, it was still basically a DBZ game, but it was all legit) the lawyers leave you alone.

Honestly, if it ever happened, nilllzz should make his own pokemon-like instead of abandoning it. A lot of content to make but the engine can handle it.

Same thing was asked here. And they have the same answer as you do.

As far as I know, one of the only reasons fan projects get shut down is overzealous legal teams. Apparently if a trademark is diluted enough it can potentially stop being an exclusive trademark. It isn't really something any company is at risk of having happen but they sometimes enforce their copyright just to be safe. Fox and Square-Enix are notorious for this (in HL1 modding circles you'd be 'foxxed' if you got a cease and desist for a fan project based on an existing IP, but I've since heard 'squeenix'd' to mean the same thing)

Daziman, I like your work! What are you using, if I may ask? I mainly use CS4 but my photoshop skills have gotten quite a bit rusty over the past few years...

But I decided to give it a shot anyway, make a "classical" version with your layout.

There are lots of irregularities with the 3D because I didn't like the font I found on dafont.com. As a solution, I used it, then modified it manually which brought lots of minor irregularities with it... And last but not least, it needs a huge emboss to make it fit with the original logo. I tried using the emboss options I had but they didn't even come close to my expectations, I'm going to work on it a little more later tonight...

Meanwhile Nilllzz don't sell the game, we would not infringing the copyright laws, there are a lot of Pokemon fan-made games, one bigger than others and I have never heard of a problem in it.
The same with Zelda, Megaman, Mario, etc

Daziman I like your logo. But it is too dark. Can you add some type of light to it?
I will try

I use Photoshop CS4 too!
I was in a Photoshop class in my University, so I learned the basics. I used the "3D" option, but I had never used it, neither in the class

I think that the Pokemon 3D logo must be in "3D", the classic logo is too plain.
The "3D" words must be bigger, or more robust

I'm thinking of something of this:

This is just a concept so far. The perspective will be a lot different and the dark grey is going to have a carbon fiber texture when my renderer stops freaking out.

You are right, the 3d makes a nice contrast in your logo which I particularly appreciate.

That is a really nice one too Timoshi. Looking forward to the end product :D
