How about adding the Islands after defeating Red in Mt Silver, gives areas for other regional Pokémon, Legendaries to be caught, and also more Unown mysteries?

possible, but we haven't gotten the story up to mt silver yet :p we'll take these sort of suggestions into consideration. afaik nilllzz isn't opposed to adding content that doesn't exist in the gbc games but we are a long way off running out of content to port from those. that is a bridge we will cross when we get there

Yea I just thought I'd suggest it now before someone else did =P
hope after completion the project is continued on to the Sevii Islands and maybe other regions just for more content.
BTW the games atmosphere is amazing props to nilllzz, its a fresh spin of a childhood treasure that feels new and inventive.

personally, i'm going to texture pack the hell out of this thing because i'm a fan of higher res textures with an abstract style to it. but the old gameboy textures really do have a lot of charm to them.

I'm thinking of including them in my mod(it won't be until we get to a comprable part of the rest of the game)

Would be interested in seeing the game in higher res too if that's gonna be available
this is coming next week. everything in this video that is different is not actually overwriting the game files, only telling it to substitute it

high res 'patches' were already possible but very very VERY tedious to do and maintain, and harrowing to install. but this should simplify the process for both the end user and the author. i am expecting to see texture packs in the future, and i may make my own

so this includes new grass texture and trees acting as tall grass is that gonna overwrite the current look? or can I keep current one?

oh, i hope that wasnt confusing

basically, as of next week it will be possible to install mods that don't change how the game plays, only how it looks, they go in /pokemon/content/contentpacks/ and are enabled in your options.dat. upon updating you won't notice a thing, it's more of a behind the scenes change. you don't have to know the specifics of how it works, but people will be able to make texture packs, and you will be able to use them.

if you use them they can change all sorts of things, like music, sounds, sprites and textures. if you don't want to use them you just don't download the mods :)

also, all the stuff substituted in for that video except the snazzy ui skin (that is splint's GoldUI pack) are just things i threw together to test the system. it won't be in the game :p i released it as an example for pack authors to use as reference

ah okay gotcha was wondering if that was what you were meaning, sounds sweet!!
it really is. i'm really proud of it and it took like 1 day to get working. i stole the idea from natural selection 2 though :p

i thought it'd be my fave feature of this update by far then pokemon followers and 'offset loading' (a kind of level streaming, it makes it so the next map is beyond the transition, so when you walk through new bark town you can see route 29 down the road!) came out of nowhere. so cool. nilllzz owns

lol i just thought of something, because the pack system can replace the pokemon sprites it would be possible to have a Classic Sprite mod that uses the gameboy colour games sprites like the ones from your sig :> maybe a classic npc skin pack too, the gameboy overworld sprites are really bad but it'd be sorta cool lol. maybe someone would like them

yea that would be pretty sweet I was also thinking of extra evolve forms that could be added to the older gens too, the horizon rendering would be awesome, its got a LoZ feel to it atm. (that's not a bad thing either though)

if you mean adding new species, mods can do that, but i dont think P3D itself will.

this 'content packs' thing can make all pichus look like a spikey eared pichu, custom skins for the pokemon, things like that

(also, my character in that video is actually ethan, it will swap player sprites, a way of letting people use custom sprites safely)

Then would it possible to swap say skarmory for pidgeotto, then make and pre evo and evolve form for skarmory to replace pidgy and pidgeot? or would that not work as a detour around the problem?
